What is Green Star?
Green Star is a complete assessment tool used to accurately measure, understand and communicate the performance of your commercial building across a broad range of measures, identifying possible areas for cost savings, carbon reductions, and future improvements.
The New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) provides the Green Star rating, from 0 to 6 stars, for a wide range of commercial buildings including retailers, offices, hospitals, schools, and more. This rating follows a period of assessment, provided by expert consultants, including ESP.
Types of Green Star ratings.
There are 4 types of Green Star ratings, suitable for different occupants and businesses.
Green Star – Performance.
Green Star – Performance assesses the operational performance of all types of existing buildings across nine holistic impact categories, providing a single, simple and comprehensive rating for any existing commercial building.
Green Star – Design & As Built.
Design and As Built guides the sustainable design and construction of new commercial builds or major refurbishments.
Green Star – Interiors.
Green Star – Interiors provides ratings for updates and fitouts for any type of commercial interior; offices hotels, schools or retail space.
Green Star – Communities.
Green Star – Communities is design to transform neighbourhoods into green, prosperous spaces. This rating guides building and urban design at a neighbourhood, precinct, or community scale.
